Product approval, certification services - Mexico

Telecoms and radio

TRaC offers a type approval and project management service for a wide range of telecoms equipment to ensure that products intended for sale or use in Mexico meet all of the necessary regulatory and compliance requirements for Comisión Federal de Telecomunicaciones (COFETEL).

In addition to the COFETEL certification, your product must also be tested for EMC and Safety to gain the Mexican Official Norms (NoM) certificate. Two organisations are authorised to grant NoM certification for telecommunication and electronic equipment products, namely Normalizacióny Certificación Electronica, AC (NYCE) and Asociación Nacional de Normalización y Certificación del Sector Eléctrico, AC (ANCE), responsible for electric/electronic equipment of a domestic nature. NoM testing must be carried out in Mexico.

Types of Equipment Approval Authority
Telecommunication line terminal equipment (TLTE) COFETEL
Radio Frequency (RF) equipment ANCE and NYCE

Types of Equipment

TLTE and RF Type Approval is applicable but not necessarily limited to, data and text processing equipment, data preparation equipment, data terminal equipment, data circuit terminating equipment (for example, modems), automatic telephone answering machines, facsimile transceivers, call restriction devices, cordless telephones, digital and analogue feature telephones, lightning protection devices, line monitoring equipment and speech recorders.

Type Approval Requirements

All applicants must be registered on the local Trade Register as being professionally involved with the marketing of electronics or telecommunications equipment.
