TRaC offers a type approval and project management service for a wide range of telecoms equipment to ensure that products intended for sale or use in India meet all of the necessary regulatory and compliance requirements for the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing (WPC), Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

TRaC offers project management of the Indian type approval processes, including managing the in-country testing, completion of application forms and ongoing liaison with the approvals bodies to ensure type approval is granted in the shortest possible time.

Types of Equipment

TLTE and RF Type Approval is applicable but not necessarily limited to, data and text processing equipment, data preparation equipment, data terminal equipment, data circuit terminating equipment (for example, modems), automatic telephone answering machines, facsimile transceivers, call restriction devices, cordless telephones, digital and analogue feature telephones, lightning protection devices, line monitoring equipment and speech recorders.

Type Approval Requirements

On satisfactory completion of the evaluation process, an approval certificate is issued so that applicants can import equipment into India with the assistance of their local representative. Certificates are normally valid for as long as the equipment remains unchanged and continues to comply with Indian requirements.

Project Management for Indian Approvals

For Indian approvals, the process that TRaC can project manage includes the following services:

  • Organisation of despatch of samples to avoid delays at Customs
  • Management of the testing process till type approval is complete
  • Completion of all paperwork including application forms, declarations and letters of authority to be sent to TEC, DoT, in India
  • Liaison with local offices and distributors in India
  • Submission of the approval applications to the Indian Authorities
  • Making payment for the certification on your behalf
  • Ongoing liaison with Indian Authorities until type approval is granted

Test Standards required by Indian Authorities

Testing must be carried out in-country to Indian standards.
