CCC certification for Audio/Visual and IT & Business equipment is changing

If you are selling products into China you are probably already aware of the difficulties with obtaining the Chinese Compulsory Certification mark (CCC mark) for product in the area of Audio/Visual (IEC 60065) or IT/Business equipment (IEC 60950).
Later this year the acceptance criteria for this product categories is changing with the adoption of GB8898-2011 for Audio/Visual equipment and GB4943.1-2011 for IT/Business equipment.
GB8898-2011 for Audio/Visual Equipment
After 1st November 2012, the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) will only accept applications for the CCC Mark to the new GB8898-2011 standard.
For existing certificates, manufacturers are required to update their certificates according to the new standard by 1st November 2013, with an additional grace period extending to 1st February 2014.
GB4943.1-2011 for IT Equipment
After December 1, 2012, the CQC will only accept IT equipment applications for the CCC Mark to the new GB4943.1-2011 standard. From December 1, 2012 onwards, non-compliant products will not be permitted to be imported into or sold in the China market.
For existing certificates, manufacturers are required to update their certificates according to the new standard by 1st December 2013, with an additional grace period extending to 1st March 2014.
For those using an IECEE CB certificate as the evidence for compliance with the CCC regulations, new National Deviations for GB8898-2011 and GB4943.1-2011 have now been released. The most significant impact is the inclusion of a requirement for equipment used over an altitude 2000m and up to 5000m along with consideration for tropical climate conditions.
As well as an IECEE NCB and CBTL under the CB scheme, TRaC also has local representation in China which can help assist with all your CCC certification regulatory requirements.
