The Broadband
Forum (formerly DSL Forum) TR-069 technical report specifies a protocol that
is intended for communication between an Auto-Configuration Server (ACS) and
Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). The ACS is a server within the service
provider's network that has the ability to control and monitor a CPE with the
TR-069 protocol.
The Broadband Forum
was formerly known as the DSL Forum. It is a consortium of approximately 200
leading industry players from telecommunications, equipment, computing,
networking and service provider companies. In 14 years, the Broadband Forum
has moved from defining the core DSL technology to delivering maximum
effectiveness in broadband deployment and use.
