Impact Analysis
TRaC's Stress team has worked on a variety of different projects which have focused on Impact. We have analysed vehicle impacts for client to ensure products meet physical test criteria as well as impacts such as Bird Strike for a number of Aerospace companies. TRaC also have physical testing equipment which can perform environmental and seismic events, together with.

TRaC uses the Abaqus/Explicit solver to calculate the dynamic responses of structures undergoing high speed impacts. These solutions can deal with very complex dynamic contact situations including friction, nonlinear material behaviour and failure. The Explicit solver can also handle complicated mechanisms undergoing large angle rotations with complex nonlinear joints. Applications include crash analysis of automobiles, aircraft, etc., multi-body dynamics and impact analysis of electronic components.
