Finite Element Analysis - FEA
Leading Edge Software, Leading Edge Solutions
Ever more successful engineering design that cuts cost and time to market factors can only be achieved by a continuous improvement in ways and means that readily allows examination of the "what if" and "wish list" design scenarios. Whilst the use of engineering calculations gives the design process a foundation, the effective use of computer simulation methods – Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Multi-Body Dynamics Simulation (MBDS) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) – identifies the market leaders. Here the services offered by TRaC excel, employing leading edge software to reliably deliver leading edge solutions.
TRaC's FEA Department is certified by an independent third party to meet ISO 9001:2000.
In-house or Out-source?
The processes of design using CAD and of analysis employing computer simulation each make a particular contribution to the common goal of success; design focusing on manufacture and usability issues, analysis on functional reliability. Qualification by physical testing as the demonstration of design quality completes the range of activities that make up the successful design process.
Alternative skill sets are called for to satisfy these wide ranging needs. Furthermore, design engages in a process of continuous improvement throughout the product life cycle, varying detail by extrapolating known performance, whilst analysis and test are more intermittent activities that occur during the key stages of product development.
Whilst design evolution needs are best satisfied by internal resources, meeting the more occasional requirements for analysis and test that carry high overheads poses the question of 'In-House or Out-Source'? Commonly the conclusion is to out-source, partnering with TRaC, an organisation that is unique in combining both scarce analysis and test resources.
Design, Analysis and Test – Linked processes, Engineering Driven
Successful designs are driven by engineering understanding that starts with the appreciation of concepts.
TRaC provides a team of engineers who have those skills, working with clients to evaluate applications of FEA in their product development processes, making on-site presentations to increase the understanding of a wider audience.
All are honours engineering graduates, the majority having 1st class or MSc / PhD post graduate degrees. Core team members have authored commercial FEA and heat exchange software marketed worldwide, their expertise in the theory of analysis giving them as system users an exceptional insight into the application and validity of computer simulation methods. Experience covers all aspects of engineering analysis, including nonlinear effects of time varying shock, contact, material property variations, thermal transients, etc.
Our engineers working alongside your designers, closing the loop between the interlinked design, analysis and test activities, maximises benefit to the product development cycle whilst reducing costs.
Tools, CAD Import
TRaC's analysis team draws on a full range of industry recognised software, importing data generated by CAD packages, to give the best means to address diverse problem types, allowing them to satisfy their customer’s challenging technical demands and project deadlines.
