Equipment noise emission testing
In addition to TRaCs Acoutic and Voice quality services TRaC also offers enhanced testing services for measuring noise emitted by IT and Telecoms equipment. Standards such as ISO 7779 and EN300 753 v1.2.1 detail test methodologies and limits for equipment noise.
ISO 7779: 'Acoustics - Measurement of airborne noise emitted by computers and business equipment.'
This is the internationally accepted standard for measuring noise emissions from personal computer system units, hard disks and other storage media. It specifies operating and installation conditions in an acoustical laboratory in order to have reproducible and repeatable values.
EN300 753 v1.2.1 'Acoustic noise emitted by telecommunications equipment'
This standard defines the Bel requirements for equipment in various locations such as business areas, power rooms and outdoors.
Testing can be performed with equipment configured in various configurations to demonstrate worst case noise emission. The different configurations could be operating temperature, power input changes or loading of the equipment under test.
