TRaC can assist you with the requirements of Directive 2002/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 June 2002 on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (vibration).
Hand and arm vibration is a widespread hazard for employees in many industries and occupations. Problems can arise from the constant use of hand held power tools such as drills or grinder, hand guided machinery such as lawnmowers, rollers or plate compactors and hand fed machinery such as pedestal grinders or drilling machines. Under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 it is necessary for employers to determine the risk and maximum usage of equipment over a normal working period to ensure that the employee is not at risk. It is also necessary for manufacturers of equipment to determine the maximum daily usage of the equipment which may be used by the general public through purchase or hire.
Hand and arm vibration measurements can be carried out by TRaC to determine the maximum time an operator can safely use the specific tools / equipment. The procedures are covered within the Control of Vibration at Work regulations 2005 and is controlled / monitored by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Assistance is offered in the calculation process to determine these requirements.
