This document sets out the Declaration of Conformity requirements as specified under the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), 2006/95/EC.
It is mandatory to CE Mark products that fall within the scope of this Directive and this must be supported by the correct documentation. This is provided for by the LVD in the form of:
- Compilation of a Technical File
- Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
The DoC must include the following:
- Name and address of the manufacturer or his authorised representative established within the Community
- A description of the electrical equipment
- Reference to the harmonised standards
- The Directive/s to which Conformity is being declared
- Where appropriate, reference to the specifications on which conformity is declared
- Identification of the signatory who has been empowered to enter into the commitments on behalf of the manufacturer or his authorised representative established within the Community
- The last two digits of the year in which CE Marking was affixed for the first time.
The Declaration of Conformity (DoC) must be drawn up in at least one of the official languages of the Community.
The Declaration of Conformity (DoC) must be kept at the disposal of the national authorities (HSE, Trading Standards etc) for at least 10 years from the last date of manufacture of the product.
TRaC offers impartial support to manufacturer's in all aspects of this CE Marking Directive; from design consultation, Technical File Review through to full Product Testing.
It should be remembered that the incorrect CE Marking of products can carry severe penalties both for the company and for the individual responsible for signing the Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
