From small components or products through to complete vehicle platform testing on our rolling road – TRaC have capabilities, including:

  • EMC qualification programmes for electronic and electrical equipment for markets world wide
  • Testing to major defence and aerospace EMC specifications
  • Automotive EMC testing to meet the manufacturers specifications and legislative requirements (e-marking)

EMC testing services

Our test facilities are operated from various locations across the UK and each provide core and specialist services. Our test laboratories are accredited by UKAS against ISO17025 and are also approved by various national bodies throughout the world (see global approvals). Our test services include:

  • Radiated and conducted emissions testing
  • Radiated, conducted and transient immunity (susceptibility) testing
  • Indirect lightning strike effects
  • On-site EMC testing of large (fixed) installations and products
  • Shielded room performance
  • Site surveys

With over twenty EMC test chambers across four UK test sites, we deliver local, timely and flexible access to our services.

EMC support services

In addition to the comprehensive test facilities and services that we offer, consultancy forms a vital and increasingly important aspect. Our consultancy services are typically based around product evolution meaning that we get involved in all areas of the product design. This includes

  • Identification of the appropriate requirements (contractual and legislative)
  • Preparation of control and test plans including test suites where no relevant standard exists
  • Identification of key risks of EMC design and minimization of this through limited testing through the design process
  • Preparation of technical documentation for end customers and/or regulatory bodies
  • Notified Body services for CE marking directives (EMC, R&TTE)

LATEST EMC NEWS

Why are there so many emissions standards?

Keeping up to date with standards in any industry is a challenge but the EMC industry doesn't help itself with so many standards all covering essentially the same thing. There are at least six common emissions standards based on international CISPR standards covering household, industrial, information technology, lighting and broadcast receiver products. In addition to these basic standards there are industry specific standards which make reference to the basic ones, resulting in 30-40 possible standards that a manufacturer can choose from.

Seven Reasons to Conduct Pre-Compliance EMC Testing

Many of our customers are choosing to conduct pre-compliance EMC testing throughout the design stage.

And you thought your EMC tests were difficult!

All electronics engineers are familiar with EMC testing, generally viewing it as yet another challenge to be overcome by good design.
