Low Voltage Directive
Applying to the vast majority of electrical equipment in everyday use the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) states electrical equipment can only be placed on the market if it does not endanger the safety of persons, domestic animals or other equipment and goods. It is mandatory to CE Mark products that fall within the scope of this Directive and this must be supported by the correct documentation.
TRaC Safety Testing can provide all the services a manufacturer needs to meet the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD). There are key aspects which are mandatory and these must be in place before CE marking to this Directive can take place, these are:
- Product Safety Testing
- Compilation of a Technical File
- Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
We offer impartial third party support to manufacturers in all aspects of the CE Marking Directive; from design consultation, full product safety testing, Technical File compilation and review.

For the EU markets as a BIS (formerly the DTi) Notified Body under the LVD, the documentation that we issue is in a recognised format and thus should ensure universal acceptability by enforcement authorities through out the EU.
As a Certification Body Test Laboratory we offer the TRaC mark to anyone meeting the requirements of our National Certification Body (NCB) scheme, under the IECEE certification scheme, for further details of the members of the IECEE scheme and it’s advantages click here to download the PDF.
It should be remembered that the incorrect CE marking of products can carry severe penalties both for the company and for the individual responsible for signing the DoC.
