Have you started to see RED? Because on the 13th June 2016, the Radio & Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) Directive – which is to become known as the ‘Radio Equipment Directive’ or ‘RED’ – comes into force and will have a major impact on products covered by its scope.
Unlike many of the other CE Marking directives, the RED has undergone a full technical revision and also includes the administrative changes implemented through the New Legislative Framework (NLF). When RED comes into force, a change of scope will mean that certain types of equipment will no longer be covered whilst others will be covered for the first time. For example, broadcast receivers, which traditionally fell under the EMC and the LVD directives, will fall under RED.
