UKAS Scope Extensions

In response to requests from a number of existing customers, TRaC has expanded the range of services it offers and are pleased to announce our extension to scope for:

  • Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) at Warwick
  • High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) Testing at Warwick
  • Salt Corrosion Testing at Wimborne

TRaC Warwick has become the first independent UK based laboratory to gain United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to perform Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), specifically for QRS - 410T HALT chamber from Screening Systems Incorporated. There are currently no national or international standards for HALT therefore accreditation has been in accordance with the in-house procedure that TRaC specifically developed for this type of environmental testing.

TRaC provide HALT testing for companies within the commercial, industrial and military sectors. HALT testing is used to find product design weakness making the product more rugged.

Also using both electromagnetic shaker systems and airjet excitation, TRaC can perform High Cycle Fatigue Testing on jet engine components including guide vanes; low, intermediate and high pressure compressor stages for commercial and military aircraft within the frequency range of 50 to 3000Hz.

TRaC worked closely with Rolls-Royce to develop the UKAS accredited facility for High Cycle Fatigue testing which is used to determine the fatigue characteristics of engine components for use on both civil and military aircraft. The results of the High Cycle Fatigue testing can be compared to theoretical model results, both to verify the model and confirm that a component has an acceptable fatigue life.

Salt Corrosion Testing has been available at Warwick for a number of years but due to demand we have now increased our facilities at our Wimborne site. This extension to scope for the Salt Corrosion Testing at Wimborne has been assessed and approved by UKAS.

We are always looking to expand the range of tests we offer our customers and we are now working towards other options.

Shock announcement; TRaC extends environmental test services

New investment adds Drop-test Shock Machine to extensive product test facilities. TRaC has further extended its environmental test capabilities with the installation of a Lansmont 95 shock test machine.
