Latest amendment to the UK Def Stan 59-411

The latest amendment to the UK's EMC Def Stan 59-411 (published by the MOD in January 2008) gives specific attention to CE marking and provides advice for manufacturers on their responsibilities.

Annex F of Part 1 of the standard confirms that only a very small number of defence products are exempt from CE marking and exemption must be  based on a demonstration of ‘essential interests of National security’. This means that manufacturers can no longer argue that products specifically for a military purpose or customer do not require normal CE marking.

TRaC's expertise in this area was recognised by the MOD, when they asked us to write the annex on their behalf.
