Analysis Validation
"Very often physical validation is critical to ensure the reliability of a simulated model." TRaC can test your physical parts in order to acquire data which can be used to develop the simulation.
The need for a competitive advantage is forcing companies to continually look to innovate and improve product and processes. Companies are confronting issues such as increasingly complex customer requirements along with a plethora of compliance regulations and requirements. As a result, our clients are asking us:
- How can we improve and ensure product quality?
- How can we verify compliance with standards?
- How can we reduce prototypes and physical testing?
- How can we minimise or eliminate warranty cost?
- How can we measure product capabilities relative to requirements?
- How can we optimise designs for performance?
These issues can be solved by TRaC. Our analysis capabilities and in-depth knowledge of compliance and standards can assist you in ensuring you meet your product objectives.
Modal Testing using a hammer of electromagnetic shaker excitation to acquire in service data.
This is where instrumentation is attached to the client component/ components or a modal hammer is used. The Modal Hammer excites the structure with a constant force over a frequency range of interest and measurements are recorded. Typically a full Finite Element Model (FEM) has been developed by the customer or by TRaC. Analytical results and optimisation algorithms are used to determine the Test-Analysis Model, ideal set of measurement locations are defined called the test degrees of freedom (DOF). Electrodynamics shakers or impact hammers are used to apply an input into the structure. Accelerometers are used to measure the response. Frequency Response Functions (FRF) are then calculated and stored. The data quality is evaluated by analyzing signal to noise, reciprocity, coherence, spectral content of input force, FRF phase and the overall FRF appearance. After verifying quality data, the parameter estimation process begins.
Many of our clients not only require our analysis service but also ask us to conduct physical tests and capture this data and feed it back into the analysis simulation. This ability to combine physical data in the virtual world offers our client significant advantage when developing or modifying a product.
