Analysis services for the nuclear energy industry

Safe production of nuclear power is perhaps one of the biggest issues facing nuclear engineers that design and operate nuclear power plants.

TRaC are assisting the Nuclear Industry by performing structural analysis to ensuring new designs meet safety and performance requirements. TRaC are also able to investigate structural integrity, erosion, fatigue, impact, fouling, loss of coolant, and seismic events.  We also have the largest seismic physical testing facility in the UK.

The portfolio of engineering simulation tools which TRaC uses allow us to analyse structural mechanics, explicit dynamics, thermohydraulics, fluid dynamics and electromagnetics.

One important operation that requires additional safety considerations is the disposal of nuclear waste products.  TRaC can assist in the evaluation of designs when exposed to collision impacts or other accidents or corrosion. TRaC's ability to predict the structural hydrodynamic performance of equipment subjected to these scenarios can provide insight using our simulation tools. This knowledge is difficult to ascertain by other means.

TRaC can assist you in solving engineering problems such as:

seismic loading, soil-structure interaction, piping support design, bolted and pressure vessels, transport and disposal, mechanism analysis, dry crack analysis, drop tests, instrumentation and control systems, steam dryers, reactor thermal-hydraulics, pulsating flows, threaded closure analysis, turbines, accident scenarios, fire, creep, boilers, pressurized thermal shock, containment flow analysis, fuel assembly and grid spacer design, power transmission, pumping, waste storage, sensors and actuators, fuel rod fretting
