Analysis services for the automotive industry
Crash & Impact Analysis
In recent years, automotive companies have successful focused engineering studies on improving occupant safety. They have done this primarily by employing CAE studies which focus on Energy management and how structures can be designed to distribute and absorb energy. TRaC are able to conduct multiple types of simulations to meet both customer and regulatory requirements. TRaC also have extensive knowledge of composite materials.
Dynamic Side Impact
- Roof Crush Strength
- Fuel Tank System
- Bumper Impact
- Bumper Strength
- Head Impact
The use of CAE impact analysis to simulate these events may reduce the number of test prototypes required to develop a satisfactory design. These analyses offer high value since physical testing is costly and requires prototype hardware and destructive testing.
Projects include:
- Analysis of Renault Steering Column assembly – natural frequencies analysis
- Impact analysis of HGV
Formula 1
TRaC also have an in-depth knowledge of composite materials and are able to combine physical testing with simulation in order to improve performance criteria whilst reducing weight.
Our engineers are able to work to tight timescales and will assist in solving complex design issues. We have many years of experience in understanding material behaviour and stress loading conditions, and will advise on the optimum design solution.
Recent projects include:
- Lightening and stiffening of F1 Suspension System
